Does anyone know how you would become a historian for a particular state? Would you just end up taking a general history college course and then apply to some historian thing in the state you want to learn about? I searched google but nothing really seems to come up besides basic college courses.

Has anyone seen "The men who stare at goats" yet? The commercial looks really good and I still have two free tickets, thankfully they never expire. How was it?

Current Mood: curious

I will have the rare opportunity today to go to a movie. I have already seen Zombieland.

Should I see District 9 or Where the Wild Thing Are? Or is there another movie out that's awesome and I should see?

I met this guy in passing a few weeks ago, we've seen each other a couple of times around campus since then, and had one conversation through text.

He just sent me a text that just said "hey sexy." I... don't even. TQC, what loltastic responses would you have if someone sent you a text like that?

Also, what is the cheesiest way you've been hit on?

If you could have any job, what would it be?

I would love to be a food critic, a neurosurgeon or a farmer. All of them at once would be amazing.

EDIT: I forgot Crime Scene Investigator and Journalist.

Does your pet have heartburn?

My poor little dog has heartburn as often as I do. He'll just be standing there and then all of a sudden kind of burp with his mouth closed and lurch forward. I wish they had tums for puppies.

Last purchase?

I've seen this gif floating around the internet but I don't know the context. Does anyone know what's going on or why she is crying?

What are the "little things" that give you the most happiness?

Do you like to shower with cold or hot water?

Do you prefer to have pure breed dogs or mixed?

Poll #1482154
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 60

In this hypothetical situation, your next door neighbors are a nice couple with 3 special needs kids, ages 5 to 10. One day the parents knock on your door, excited. "We've talked this over with our lawyer, and we'd like to make you official guardian to our kids, should something happen to us. Susie's (the wife) adopted and has no family, and my family already has more than enough mouths to feed and we don't have any real friends to count on. So we'd like to appoint you because, well, you're our only option. What do you say?"

View Answers

Yes. I accept. It's the noble thing to do
1 (1.7%)

No. I don't want to be saddled with anyone else's learning-challenged or gimpy kids
39 (65.0%)

I'll do it if I'm put in the will. I mean, if you both were deceased and not able to raise your kids, I assume that there's a will
8 (13.3%)

12 (20.0%)

"Oh, and can we impose a huge favor on you? Can you watch the kids for 4 hours tomorrow? We'll pay you $50 for the inconvenience. Tomorrow, we're both going skydiving! It'll be our first time without an instructor. We're so excited! What do you say?"

View Answers

Yes. I'll watch them. Have fun
17 (28.3%)

No. I'm....busy. Wish I could help but I can't
26 (43.3%)

I'll watch them but....wait...if I'm the guardian if you two kick the bucket, why are you doing something so risky?"
4 (6.7%)

"Sure! I'm going to my friend's pit bull rescue tomorrow and I'll take them along. I'm sure they'd love to play with the pit bulls that people were forced to give away. Wait, where are you going?"

I'm struggling to write a very formal thank you letter for a scholarship I received.

What was the last awkward/hard thank-you you had to write or say to someone? What made it hard or awkward?

on craigslist, is it safe to assume that "live-in housekeeper" always means an elaborate set up for a sex-slave/murder situation? would your answer change if the entire ad was capslocked?

how often do you do laundry?

how often do you re-wear an item of clothing before washing it?

Do car dealerships do worthwhile Black Friday sales? I was planning on getting a car in January, but then I realised the ginormo consumer day is just around the corner.

Related: do I just go for the affordable, cute Yaris or suck it up and see if I can afford the Prius?

On forums and such when people ask for specific advice, and you give them an accurate, super-helpful answer, does it bug you when they just don't reply at all?
